...committed to change

Picture
Beautiful Child,
I have seen your struggle, I have seen you try to get rid of your eating disorder, but have you surrendered? Surrendered to the old way of doing things, the beating your head against the wall expecting a different outcome? Surrender now, and make a commitment to yourself. The part you have to commit to is do you really truly want to be happy, balanced, aligned, harmonious, and peaceful? Ask yourself why you wouldn't? Most people say they want those things, but do everything in their power to sabotage them. They go back to the same way of living, living in pain, in fear, in doubt, in despair. I know it isn't fully a conscious decision to be in those states, but everything you think, everything you do, creates more of the same. So this is really about changing the patterns. Some of these patterns have formed since you were a child, so you need to look at them. Not obsess about them, but really look at why you tend to go back to the thoughts that you aren't good enough, that you somehow don't deserve love, that God is out there somewhere not in you, that the walls around your ideas, your beliefs, your dogma, your crazy thinking mind has it all figured out. IT DOESN'T! We really are so limited. Belief is based on blind faith, whereas Faith is born out of experience. So I would like you to begin anew, forget the past, forget your old conditioning, become an empty slate. Open your mind, Open your heart, and begin a whole new life. O.K.?

When you make a full-scale commitment to a whole new way of living you've got to put your whole self into it, because nothing works without a total commitment. You've got to want this so deeply that you're willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen. If you're willing to make the commitment you've done most of the work, the rest should come easy. Once you realize the power of commitment you will know that a whole new life is possible. The truth is "YOU ARE ALREADY GETTING WHAT YOU'RE COMMITTED TO GETTING” -You're committed to procrastination, binging and purging/restricting, co-dependency, lack of self worth, comparing yourself to others, not putting effort into what you really love, self harm, and not doing things to grow and take care of you. (Add more if need be: suffering, unhappiness, pain, not good enough, fear of abandonment and rejection, jealousy, etc.)

If you believe this fill in the blank:

I, ________________________, acknowledge that I always get what I'm committed to getting.

Write down what you are/have been committed to.

I am committed to a life of ___________________________________________________________  _________________________________________________________________________________________
_________________________________________________________________________________________
_________________________________________________________________________________________

Now write down what you would like and choose today to be committed to. This doesn't mean you won't feel things deeply, and end up crying in your closet sometimes, but it does mean you have a deep abiding calm through the storms of life. Because your center is not based on the temporary, but on the permanent lasting love and peace, the kind that never dies, that is eternal. So this is from the inside out, rather than the other way around. Most of us go at things trying to fix them from the outside, it never works. So that is why this is different, and that is why some obstacles may come up, but if you are conscious, and aware, and truthful, you will get through them, and not go back to the old patterns.

I, _________ am committed to a life of __________________________________.

Write down tools that you are going work on to help you stay committed to your new way of living, and then print the letter out.
Carry it with you, post it on the mirror, and start committing today to healing yourself and your life.
